    Stained

Every floor is unique, so a test stain in a small square area of the customer's floor is an absolutely necessity before staining the entire floor. We allow customers to choose a number of stains until they find one that matches their floor and aesthetic requirements. Sometimes we even test 20 different stains before a client finds one that they like, but usually it takes 2-3 test stains before someone chooses something they like. The stains are oil-based with low toxicity. We prefer the Duraseal and Bona stains due to their durability and quality. The stain should be allowed to dry for 12-24 hours before applying finishing coats.

    Stairs

There are many components to a staircase: steps, risers, poles, posts, landings, moldings, nosings, railings, stringers. Staircases are more delicate and require precision compared to regular wooden floors..An edge sander is used with a coarse grit is used to get rid of the old finish. Areas that the edger cannot strip away are done by handheld mechanical sanders, while the remaining areas are done by hand scraping. Please call us to discuss which parts of the staircase you want to sand. A typical staircase consists of several parts that work together to provide a safe and functional means of vertical movement between different levels of a building. Here are the main parts of a staircase:

    1. Treads: are the horizontal components of the staircase on which you place your feet when ascending or descending. They are designed to provide a stable and comfortable surface to step on.
    2. Risers: Risers are the vertical components between each tread. They help define the height of each step and prevent your foot from sliding through the open space between treads. In some staircase designs, there may be no risers, resulting in an open staircase.
    3. Stringers: Stringers are the structural supports that run along the sides of the staircase, providing stability and strength. They typically have a diagonal or zigzag shape and can be made of wood, metal, or concrete.
    4. Balusters: Balusters, also known as spindles or pickets, are the vertical posts that provide support and safety along the sides of the staircase. They are usually evenly spaced between the handrail and the tread or stringer.
    5. Handrail: The handrail is a horizontal rail that runs along the staircase, providing a secure handhold for support and stability while ascending or descending. It is typically mounted on the balusters or a separate railing system.
    6. Newel Posts: Newel posts are larger, more decorative posts that are located at the beginning and end of a staircase, as well as at any intermediate landings. They provide additional structural support and serve as an anchor for the handrail.
    7. Landing: A landing is a platform or horizontal area at the top or bottom of a staircase or at an intermediate point. It allows for a change in direction, provides a resting point, and often serves as a transition between flights of stairs.
These are the primary components of a staircase, although there may be additional elements based on the specific design, such as decorative trim, molding, or a skirt board that covers the sides of the staircase
